Maxwood’s modular Commercial series of beds, lofts & bunks come in a variety of sizes, heights & configurations, so there’s a solution to meet most needs! When helping select the right product we start by considering room dimensions (including ceiling height). Although there are 1000s of possible configurations, there’s a number of top-selling products.
Even small spaces can be converted to comfortable sleeping spaces. Oftentimes it’s expensive and time-consuming to get a custom piece made to fit. Contact our design team and we’ll recommend a configuration without the custom price tag!
Nothing beats a bunk bed when it comes to accomodating the most guests, especially with added trundle! Classic Bunks are available in 3 standard finishes & can be customized when ordering factory direct (minimums apply). If space allows, consider adding Queen Bunks which are more appealings to adult guests. And possibly upgrading to Staircase entry which provides added storage & makes bedding changes easier! Queen Bunks also come with side ladder options which creates a more open feel to the bottom bunk.
A variation of the Queen bunk is a Twin XL over Queen. While it takes up the same footprint, this design opens up the room visually.
Quad Bunks are the best way to maximize sleeping space, and come in a variety of configurations.
Whether you’re building mountain lodges or re-designing a seaside resort to optimize sleeping space, the process is pretty much the same. Hotels often maximize headcount & family guest comfort by adding family suites with bunkbed rooms separate from the main bedroom.
At Maxwood we are experts in versatile furniture. Our modular Commercial series of Beds, Lofts, Bunks & Case Goods has endless possibilities. Samoset Resort & Harborside Hotel both debuted new “Family Suites” in 2019 with Maxwood’s Commercial Twin XL Bunks. The challenge here was to create spacious sleeping quarters while maintaining the modern and classy look and feel of the décor.
These fun suites offer children & teenagers the VIP treatment and feature a special “room within a room” that keeps them entertained in their own area, furnished with a bunk bed and TV. Parents have the benefit of privacy with a partial wall for more time to relax.

When designing spaces for guests, consider the “real-life use” – how will your staff and guests use the rooms? Some visitors may have small children and co-sleeping may be important to them, so consider adding pull out trundle beds.
Added safety rails for bottom bunks are appreciated by many families for younger guests, especially if they are detachable – families have the option to remove them if they don’t need them or attach them if they do.

Unique room layouts & low ceilings can often present a challenge. But not when partnering with Maxwood! Being modular, Maxwood’s Commercial series of beds, bunks, lofts & case goods have combinations to meet a variety of needs. Not only do beds come in different sizes (ranging from Twin & Twin XL to Queen) but also different heights & configuration options.
Several Sorority Houses were recently presented with this unique space challenge and Maxwood was happy to provide the perfect product solutions. The challenge here was to create safe spacious sleeping quarters while maintaining a fun & functional feel.
Low ceilings led to a recommendation for medium height bunks with low profile mattresses (to maximize under-bunk clearance) & unique room layouts led to recommendations for corner bunks in many rooms to optimize the use of space. Six different bed configurations were used for 1 Sorority House to ensure we were making the most of every inch. And a variety of under-bed options used to maximize storage space for each student.

The Commercial series is available quick-ship (3 standard finishes) or Factory Direct from Vietnam, in which case custom finishes & designs are available (minimums apply). One Sorority project opted to save by ordering export, which enabled them to order custom ladder-less bunks in a trendy grey finish.
